Usually, these introductions start with a name, age, and country of origin. That can come later. Words can only say so much. Photographs say the rest. To me, photography is more than just pressing a button. It's about seeing, not just looking. About feeling. Capturing something fleeting and turning it into a memory you can return to. A photograph freezes time. A form of time travel.
That is also how I live life, I notice. The scent of lavender. Warm evenings under palm trees. Swallows gliding through the sky before sunset. Daydreaming of a Portuguese home with a lemon tree in the garden. Moving to Portugal by myself last summer changed everything. Since then, life has been filled with quiet "pinch me" moments and an even deeper appreciation for authenticity, beauty and imperfection. Because in the end, it is not the basic facts about someone that truly tell their story. And when words no longer suffice, images do.
So, this is About Me. Esther. My name means star. That is how the name Estrela Photography came to be. Estrela is the Portuguese word for star. Light has always fascinated me. Maybe that is also why I fell in love with photography.
